An endangered species is a population of organisms which is at risk of becoming extinct because it is either few in numbers, or threatened by changing environmental or predation parameters. Also it could mean that due to deforestation there may be a lack of food and/or water.
Only a few of the many species at risk of extinction actually make it to the lists and obtain legal protection. Many more species become extinct, or potentially will become extinct, without gaining public notice.
Deforestation in Nicaragua is a major threat to countless species and the ecosystems they are part of that contribute enormously to our health and well-being.
The photo albums on the right are not exhaustive but serve as an example of what we could all lose if we ignore the problem. The albums are being added to and the information improved all the time so please, do come back.
